Why should you adopt a shelter pet?
If you have room in your home and in your heart for a new dog or cat, pet adoption makes sense for lots of reasons. Here are just a few of them:
You'll save a life - Even if you adopt from an organization that has a no-kill policy, you help rescue another animal by making space available in our program.
You'll save money - Adopting from a rescue typically costs less than buying an animal from a pet shop or a breeder.
You'll help make a difference - By adopting rather than buying a new companion animal, you will reduce the demand that drives the commercial breeding of puppies and kittens. Each year, millions of healthy and well-behaved animals are destroyed in shelters simply because there are not enough homes for all of them.
If you aren’t in a position to make a permanent addition to your family, you can consider fostering an animal instead. Foster pets benefit greatly from being in a home environment. The pet is able to await its forever home in a positive environment while being socialized and learning how to act as a member of a family.
So, there are plenty of good reasons to adopt or foster a Hope for Pets animal, but probably the best reason to adopt or foster a dog or cat is that you just might meet your new best friend.
